Japanese Souvenir | Okome Sweets Tsuyahime Tart Cookie Made with Yamagata Rice

The souvenir my brother brought back from Japan, which he got during his skiing trip, really put him in a tough spot. Since we had no clue about what to buy, he just randomly picked something from a store. In our family, we don't usually feel obligated to buy souvenirs, so it wouldn't have mattered if he came back empty-handed. Sometimes, buying souvenirs like these can be quite a stressful experience. We worry about whether they have any unique qualities and if they taste good. And often, the person buying them hasn't even tried them before, so they have no idea about the taste! We just saw everyone else buying things and following suit.

I tried searching for this particular cookie on Google but couldn't find any information. It's possible that it's more of a local product that isn't widely distributed, making it relatively unknown. Alternatively, it could be that there simply isn't much information or awareness about it. I'm not sure which it is. The only thing I can tell is that it should contain Yamagata rice as an ingredient, which could be considered a distinctive feature! (I'm not very confident about it.)

Let's not talk about the quantity; there weren't many in the box anyway. The packaging took up a large portion of the volume and variety. There really weren't a lot of cookies, and it's quite disheartening to see. As for the taste, there was nothing particularly special. The cookies had a crumbly texture, and the chocolate tasted like regular chocolate. Well, that's it! They were forgettable cookies with no standout features. At least, that's how I feel, and I can definitely say it's not a snack I would choose to buy. It's the thought that counts!
