Yilan Luodong Cai ji Hong Kong Style Stinky Tofu (Why is it Hong Kong style? I still don't understand, does anyone know? Forgot to ask the boss). Discovering it was purely accidental, we didn't plan to take it out to our hotel. Next to Cai ji Stinky Tofu are two paid parking lots, one of which collaborates with many hotels and bed-and-breakfasts, offering free parking for guests. However, it's about a 5-minute walk from our hotel. So, parking here is definitely not a problem, as there are parking lots nearby.
It's also not far from the night market, about a 10-15 minute walk away. When we were getting ready to return to the hotel, we put the souvenirs we bought in the car, only to see Cai ji Stinky Tofu packed with customers, with people even lining up. It piqued our curiosity, so we wondered if we should buy some to take back to the hotel to taste. Later, it proved to be a correct decision!
It offers various cooking styles including steamed, stewed, fried, soupy, dry, and spicy, ensuring there's always an option that suits your current craving for stinky tofu. We opted for the stewed and steamed varieties, thinking the soupy option would be perfect for the slightly chilly weather due to rain. Its odor isn't overpowering, and the broth is light and refreshing, making it quite enjoyable when served hot. Neither the texture nor the broth feels heavy, yet you still get that stinky tofu essence. Even my parents, who claimed they weren't hungry, couldn't resist taking several spoonfuls, saying they weren't hungry but their hands kept reaching for more. Plus, the price is quite reasonable!
