Finding food at Jing Station in Xiaobitan on weekends is really tough. Almost every restaurant there is packed, and the queues are so long that you start to question your life choices. Some places even have lines stretching until 1 or 2 in the afternoon. It seems like the local residents all come here for meals on weekends. Before Jing Station opened, I often struggled to find a place to eat around Xiaobitan Station. But since Jing Station opened, there are more options, and the foot traffic has increased significantly. It wasn't this crazy when there was only IKEA.
We registered at a few restaurants and later found that the wait at Wai Kee Tea House was the shortest. So we had to apologize to the other restaurants and decided to try them another time. When you're hungry, whoever can satisfy you the fastest is the priority. The type of cuisine also matters; tea houses generally have faster service and eating times, so the table turnover is quicker. (Wai Kee Tea House has a branch on Guangfu South Road, but this was my first time eating at the Xiaobitan location!)

With a diverse menu featuring a wide variety of dishes, it's almost impossible to not find something to your liking at this Hong Kong-style tea restaurant.
Groups of 2-4 people would find the seating arrangements more convenient. Larger groups might experience some inconvenience due to potential table sharing.
This dish is not part of the traditional offerings in a Hong Kong-style tea restaurant.
The fried rice was delicious and packed with the bold flavors of Hong Kong-style fried rice. It was satisfyingly rich.
The curry trio was a delightful combination of flavors. The squid, pig skin, and fish balls were tender and flavorful with a gentle kick of spice.
The taste is average, and the portion is smaller than I expected.
Pork chop buns are always better when they're local, either in Macau or Hong Kong.
The waiter mixed the claypot rice at the side as our table was full. Claypot rice is my go-to dish because of its crispy bottom. While this one wasn't exactly the same, it still captured about 50-60% of the original flavor.
The food generally lived up to my expectations, with flavors that were very Hong Kong-style, although there were a few Taiwanese influences. The fried rice and curry trio were particularly tasty. The only drawback was the limited seating, which made it a bit challenging to eat with so many dishes. It was also a bit pricier than I expected, even compared to Hong Kong.
