The predecessor of Nguyen Little Viet was New Viet Vietnamese Noodle House, which changed its name around 2019 to the current Nguyen Little Viet. This was my first visit since the name change, though I had visited years ago before the change. The interior decoration is mostly the same, with no major changes other than a new name and some updated tables and chairs. I assume the management also changed, but they still serve Vietnamese cuisine. Since it’s been a long time, it felt almost like visiting for the first time!
Vietnamese coffee is brewed using a drip filter, which I found quite interesting. The tool itself isn't expensive to buy, though my dad thought the coffee flavor was a bit weak.
The shredded green papaya salad, fresh spring rolls, and Vietnamese grilled beef in betel leaf platter were all pretty good. The cold dishes are recommended, as they are lighter options.
The curry chicken with French bread had a stronger coconut milk flavor, which I liked. The chicken was tender. However, I felt the French bread didn’t suit my taste.
The shrimp paste water spinach was extremely shrimp-flavored and salty, making me crave a bowl of white rice. The seafood pho had a pleasantly sweet broth and was packed with ingredients. Overall, the food was decent, and it’s worth coming back occasionally. I would recommend coming with a group to sample more dishes. Otherwise, if you come alone, it’s hard to try much besides a bowl of pho, which by itself is enough to fill you up.
