Back to the Roots: A First Visit to FRIDAYS Uni-Ustyle After Many Years

I wonder if anyone still remembers the old Mingder Spring Department Store near Yongchun Station (Bannan Line). There used to be a TGI Fridays there, which has long since vanished, much like the mall itself. In fact, that was the last branch I visited before a very long hiatus from the brand. Over the years, Fridays seems to have lost its former glory; its popularity has gradually faded.

The large portions and relatively high prices are definitely factors that make people hesitate. Plus, with American-style cuisine now available on every corner, Fridays is no longer the "only" choice. It’s a place built for large groups; dining there in a small party feels a bit dull. This visit was purely for the nostalgia—it really has been ages.

That familiar corn chowder taste! Once I added the black pepper,

 the memories came rushing back.

Classic Fridays: when it’s meant to be heavy on flavor, it truly delivers. It’s the kind of food I used to crave every day, but now, after one meal, I need a long break to recover. Yet, that’s exactly what makes it Fridays. Every dish is unapologetically American—and that’s exactly why you go there. If it hadn’t been lunch, I would have loved a beer to go with it; I had to settle for a Coke instead.

For a group of four, we almost couldn't finish what we ordered. The portions are still massive. We nearly ordered more, but luckily we decided to wait and see. While I’m not sure when I’ll be back next, I know I’ll still miss this unique flavor and atmosphere from time to time.
