BEANS & BALLS: An Exquisite Sweet Treat Experience in Xinyi

BEANS & BALLS – A Guessable Name?

From the name Hado Hall BEANS & BALLS, you can probably guess what they sell—something related to beans. That means soybeans, mung beans, red beans, and so on, which naturally leads to sweet soups. It would be hard to argue that this combination isn’t centered around traditional sweet soup desserts. But is there another possible interpretation?

The store’s interior design is quite interesting—it leans towards a sports theme. Is it because all the ingredients are round? Or is the owner simply a baseball fan? That remains a mystery. If anyone knows, feel free to share.

Trying It Out

With a spirit of curiosity, we stepped inside. We had already glanced at the menu and prices at the entrance, and to be honest, it wasn’t exactly cheap. Especially considering that a well-known dessert shop, Dafang Bingpin, is nearby, and even after their recent price hike, they’re still more affordable than this place.

Each serving costs NT$80, and as shown in the picture, whether it's worth it depends on personal judgment. The bowl contains eight different toppings, and while the presentation and tableware are aesthetically pleasing, the taste didn’t quite match our preferences. When scooping the toppings mixed with the grass jelly, it felt a bit unsatisfying—almost empty at times, as if there weren’t many toppings to scoop up.

For us, this is likely a one-time visit, but perhaps others might find it more enjoyable.
