 Taiwan Day

The Taiwan Garden Plaza next to the Boston Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Newton, Boston, hosts Taiwan Day in early May (the first weekend?). The publicity of this information is not great. I would know that the Taiwan Day event was told to me by a stranger, a Taiwanese I met on WeChat. Otherwise, I really don’t know how to know this Taiwan Day! It is also a very strange thing.

The Overseas Chinese Culture and Education Service Center is really unfamiliar to us. It should be for local overseas Chinese to serve and promote Chinese, right? I feel that they can expand the scope of their services, like as long as the students or compatriots who come to Boston can join. If their influence cannot be expanded, it would be a waste of resources. Even our students in Boston don’t know that there is Taiwan Day?

I can see the national flag of Taiwan in Boston. It is really intimate. There are some cultural and folk performances in the event, and then the experience of Taiwanese cuisine. To be honest, I really couldn't bear to look directly at the Taiwanese food on the spot. A Japanese classmate went with me to participate on the same day, and I was embarrassed to introduce him to Taiwanese food. The bubble tea cannot be drunk. The names of other foods are familiar, but they look strange and dumbfounded.

I hope they can better organize and promote Taiwan Day, not just a formality. What should I do if people who participate for the first time misunderstand? I believe that Taiwanese in Boston should also miss the taste of Taiwan, which can ease the homesickness. The name of Taiwan Day is nice, but it looks more like a community event, which is really a pity! Come on, come on, come on~~~~~
