Xiao Nanmen Traditional Tofu Pudding(douhua) is a well-known and long-established dessert shop in Taipei, especially famous for its tofu pudding. However, I have always had some reservations about it. Why do they sell other hot food items? Wouldn't it be better to focus solely on selling traditional tofu pudding? Besides, tofu pudding can be enjoyed both hot and cold, so there shouldn't be any issue with seasonality. I feel that selling other food items diminishes the appeal of their tofu pudding.

Let me explain why I feel this way. The last time I ate at Xiao Nanmen was in the Taipei Main Station on the second floor. It was a Nanmen Restaurant back then. I can't remember exactly how long ago it was, but the experience left a deep impression on me. Unfortunately, it was not a positive one. I can't recall if it was my first time trying their hot food or not, but it was definitely the last. The meal was incredibly disappointing, to the point that I now avoid choosing Nanmen when I see it in a food court.

The location is good, just exit No. 6 of Dongmen MRT Station. Across the road are Din Tai Fung and Sunmerry.

The internal use here is the same as war. The clerk will tell you to find a seat before ordering, what about that person? But later I saw the clerk helping to find the location. But when there are many customers, the clerk is too busy to take care of the customers. Even if the guests have helped to deal with the tableware after the meal, the tabletop is not cleaned. Imagine what will happen when the sugar water of bean curd or the sauce of braised pork rice drips down.

I apologize if it seemed like I was complaining. Let's talk about the tofu pudding, which is the star of Nanmen. The other food items are just supporting characters and shouldn't be a major concern. The portion size of the tofu pudding is generous, making it a good choice for afternoon tea or as a snack. However, I would advise against eating it right after a full meal, as there is a high probability that you won't be able to finish it. Even the three of us struggled to finish three bowls because we had just finished dinner. The sweetness of the syrup is moderate and not overly sweet, while the toppings are cooked to perfection. The tofu pudding itself is of standard quality, nothing extraordinary or surprising. Nonetheless, it's a dessert that occasionally catches your eye and makes you want to indulge.
