A Must-Visit in Hsinchu: Exploring Neiwan Old Street

A Must-Visit for a Short Trip to Hsinchu: Exploring Neiwan Old Street

Hsinchu's Neiwan Old Street, apart from Beipu Old Street, is the second well-known old street in Hsinchu! My memory of it isn't very vivid, but according to my family's descriptions, we used to come here as a family. They even have a rough idea of which restaurant we ate at, while my memory seems to have been completely erased. I thought it was my first time visiting Neiwan Old Street, not realizing I had been here before. Perhaps it's because the routes were different; the direction when visiting relatives in Miaoli is entirely different from here. Otherwise, we usually take a stroll here on the way back to Taipei or when returning from a trip.

The reason we came here this time was because we had planned to go to Smangus, and we had some free time before heading back to Taipei. We didn't intend to eat since we were going to have spicy hotpot in Taipei that evening. Haha! Due to it being a weekday, there weren't too many tourists on the old street, and many shops were either closed or already resting. There aren't many distinctive buildings or an authentic atmosphere here; it has a fairly commercial feel.

The Neiwan Theater has two rather out-of-place decorations in front. Mickey and a python? What's the concept behind this?
