Top Eats in Taipei Da’an District: 18 Champion Beef Noodles & Surprising Mushroom Chicken Soup Noodles

My Experience at 18-Time Champion Beef Noodles: A Boozy Late-Night Adventure

This visit to the 18-Time Champion Beef Noodles was quite an unexpected and amusing experience—it was a spontaneous late-night meal after drinking. Honestly, I wasn’t even hungry at the time, and I was already tipsy when my friend said he wanted to go. So I agreed to accompany him, and we even walked there—over a kilometer!

Somewhere along the way, I was in a dazed state, chatting while walking, though I have absolutely no memory of what we talked about. Looking back, it's kind of amazing we even made it there at all. We’d had quite a bit to drink—whisky and champagne, and especially a lot of whisky. It was probably the most I’ve had in recent years. My alcohol tolerance has really dropped.

At first, I just wanted something hot to help sober up, so I ordered the Mushroom Chicken Soup Noodles. My brain was barely functioning, but the moment I took a sip of the broth, I was genuinely surprised—it was rich, savory, and full of flavor. Unfortunately, I only managed a few sips before I couldn’t take it anymore and had to grab a cab home to crash.

According to my friend, the braised beef was deeply flavorful, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. He ended up finishing everything. Honestly, I admire his stamina—I really can’t hold my liquor anymore. (And as for the photos from that night, I have zero recollection of how I even managed to take them!)
