Travelodge Kowloon Hotel Jordan Hong Kong: A Peaceful Retreat in the Bustling City

I can’t say I visit Hong Kong very often, but I’ve been there more than 10 times. My first trip to Hong Kong after the pandemic was in early 2024. My habit is to stay in Kowloon, as I rarely stay on Hong Kong Island. This is purely a personal preference. Many people enjoy staying on Hong Kong Island, but I’ve always felt that staying in Kowloon is more convenient.

After all, Hong Kong is not very large. If you want to visit attractions on Hong Kong Island, taking the MTR or a ferry is very convenient. For more budget-friendly accommodations, you might want to look further north. The areas of Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei, Jordan, and Tsim Sha Tsui are all bustling districts, so prices vary greatly, and you need to compare carefully to find something reasonably priced.

I once stayed at a hotel in Yau Ma Tei for around 1,500 TWD per night. It was located too close to a main road, had poor soundproofing, and I didn’t sleep well. The room was also very small. Of course, if you don’t have high expectations and just need a place to sleep, it’s still an option.

Travelodge Kowloon Hotel

Travelodge Kowloon Hotel in Jordan isn’t a high-end hotel; it’s more of a business and budget-friendly hotel. It’s not luxurious at all. The overall environment is simple and unpretentious, but the rooms are relatively clean and tidy. It’s less than a 5-minute walk from Nathan Road to Saigon Street, and it’s not far from Jordan Station—about a 10-minute walk. The location is fairly convenient, with bus stops nearby. There are some well-known restaurants close by, and Temple Street is also within walking distance.

The room size is relatively spacious compared to many hotels in Hong Kong. You can easily open a large suitcase flat on the floor. It has all the basic amenities, but for environmental reasons, they no longer provide items like toothbrushes and toothpaste.

There’s a school next door, so you can hear the school’s activities during weekdays. However, it’s pretty quiet at night, and the soundproofing is just acceptable. I stayed there for a few days without any major issues. Most of the time, I returned to the hotel late, so it was really just for sleeping. One inconvenience was the shower curtain, which wasn’t the right size or length, causing water to spill outside while showering.

The staff’s attitude was good—they resolved issues promptly. The only drawback is the street leading to the hotel, which might feel a bit intimidating. It’s quite dimly lit at night, making the street seem a little eerie.
