Formerly known as the Jing Shan Recreation Area, it is now called the Yangming Hot Spring Resort. Located just a 10-minute drive from the Zhongshan Building in Yangmingshan, it is the only legal recreational area in Yangmingshan National Park. The resort features standalone wooden cabins, a camping area, hot spring baths, and a restaurant. It had temporarily ceased operations for a period but resumed business in the last two years. One of its major highlights is the opportunity to soak in hot springs, making it a place where visitors can enjoy the thermal baths without staying overnight.
From the restaurant's location, you can enjoy a panoramic view that includes some scenes of Taipei City. It is the prime spot within the entire park with the most stunning landscape!
The floral tea they serve is quite delightful. On that day, due to maintenance work on the power supply, they treated us to tea before checking in. According to the staff, the ingredients for the floral tea are all cultivated within their park without the use of pesticides. It's indeed tasty, especially the unsweetened version, which offers a refreshing and natural flavor. One can't help but want to have a few more cups!
Check-in at the front desk! If it's too late, there won't be any staff on duty, so it's advisable to inquire about any issues in advance.
The standalone wooden cabin area offers various room types and occupancy limits. Some accommodations allow pets, and you can inquire about this option in advance.
You can enjoy a hot spring bath right inside the wooden cabin, and there's also a smart toilet. However, the facilities inside show signs of age, with rust, discoloration, and peeling visible in various places. The presence of hot springs can accelerate wear and tear.
The setup is a bit impractical! Not very fond of it, and the sleep quality is not very comfortable either.
Due to being located within Yangmingshan National Park, there are more restrictions on construction and activities. The buildings here are somewhat aged, requiring careful maintenance. One inconvenience is that the electrical outlets are only 220V, and 110V devices cannot be used. Additionally, the indoor environment is very humid, and even with the air conditioning on, it doesn't feel very comfortable. Sleeping is not particularly pleasant, with a constant damp sensation.
On a positive note, you can use a gas stove for BBQ at the entrance. You can bring your own ingredients and equipment or rent them from the resort. Charcoal grilling is not allowed due to the fire safety concerns in the forested area. Alternatively, they have a restaurant serving Jiangsu-Zhejiang cuisine, or you can drive out for meals and return. On weekdays, there were hardly any other tourists around; it's unclear if business is busier on weekends.
