Do you know the cost of being—or pretending to be—a “literary hipster”? It’s not the museum ticket, since admission is free. The real expense is the price of a cup of coffee if you want to sit inside and enjoy one. That’s why there are still seats available here, rather than being packed with tourists—locals surely think the coffee isn’t cheap. And we felt the same, but since we were tired from walking, we needed a dose of caffeine! At the same time, it gave us a chance to think about how to plan the rest of our day. Eyes closed, we told ourselves: we’re already here, so let’s drink it!
First off, the coffee wasn’t bad. It had a strong flavor, not sour or harsh, smooth to drink, and packed plenty of caffeine. But in terms of portion size versus price, there are better options out there. If this were Starbucks, the serving would probably be twice as big. So we didn’t dare drink it in big gulps; instead, we sipped it slowly to get the most out of its value. After all, if you finish too fast, it feels awkward to keep sitting there. Especially since these were the most comfortable seats in the entire place!
