For the Sake of Pork Rib Fried Rice, what's a Half-Hour Walk All About? Is it about checking out restaurants near the Cathay General Hospital? Or is there an unknown secret, when clearly these two are in completely different directions? Without a deciding visit, they have no intersection at all, which isn't the usual practice. Typically, you'd choose a nearby restaurant first and then expand options outward. Let's take a different route just for the sake of having some pork rib fried rice.

Initially, my mom wanted to go when she first saw the recommendation, but the timing didn't align. So, we gave up the first time and settled for a random place nearby. Then, the second time was just right, not yet lunchtime, and we walked over precisely at lunch hour. That's how I embarked on validating whether their pork rib fried rice lives up to what the article claimed, boasting the standard of a chef who originated from Din Tai Fung.

Its name is quite amusing too, sounding like a pun on 'Bad Neighbors.' The queue of people was so long it occupied the sidewalk. It definitely qualifies as a 'bad neighbor' in that regard!

The interior isn't spacious, and there aren't many seats, especially with the large tables taking up a lot of space. It's not particularly suitable for group gatherings, especially with that one round table that seems out of place. The utilization of space feels odd. It's better to secure a seat before ordering. They operate on a pay-before-ordering system and seem understaffed, resulting in a slower pace of serving. Sometimes, tables aren't cleared in time, or if they are, they aren't thoroughly wiped clean.

The salted egg pumpkin is delicious, striking a perfect balance between salty and mild flavors. The texture of the pumpkin falls somewhere between soft and firm, retaining a satisfying chewiness!

The wontons in the noodle soup and the wontons are basically the same, but the ones in the spicy red oil taste slightly better. Despite its vibrant appearance, the red oil isn't really spicy. It has a great aroma and works well as a noodle topping.

The wait for the pork rib fried rice was around 30 minutes, likely due to the high volume of orders and the need for frying and stir-frying. Patience is required, but the staff does inform customers about the wait time and confirm if it's acceptable. Moreover, I saw some customers ordering a larger portion of the fried rice, which looked incredibly satisfying. I almost regretted not getting that because one serving of the pork rib fried rice might not be filling enough. If ordering extra food, that larger portion would have been tempting.

The taste of the pork rib fried rice was indeed delightful. The grains were well-separated, every flavor infused perfectly, and the cooking time seemed just right without making it dry. The pork ribs were also quite good. No wonder many people order fried rice along with the wontons! If this place were closer to home, I'd definitely consider dropping by occasionally.
