I never thought that when visiting Jiaoxi in Yilan, it wouldn't be for the usual street snacks but for all-you-can-eat hot pot. Forget about scallion pancakes and such at the Riverbank in Jiaoxi Evergreen Phoenix Hotel. After all, nothing beats the aroma of sizzling meat. With unlimited meats, seafood, veggies, and hot pot ingredients, not to mention desserts, ice cream, drinks, and Starbucks coffee, the decision is easy. There's no room for indecision here with so many options. Well, maybe there is, considering there's so much to choose from. It's a headache knowing my stomach isn't big enough!
The beverages in the fridge are self-service, offering quite a variety, which is generous of them. The small cans are actually more convenient; you don't have to worry about feeling bloated from drinking too much. Plus, trying multiple flavors won't affect you too much. But it's still advisable not to drink too much—it's a trap. Carbonated drinks can make you feel full quickly.
The hot pot ingredients are also quite comprehensive, tempting as they are. But we can't let them deceive us; they'll distract us from the meats and seafood. We mustn't fall for it. Basically, we hardly took any of those hot pot ingredients; our focus was mainly on ordering meats and seafood, perhaps just a few vegetables at most.
The appetizers are quite tasty. They provide a nice distraction while waiting for the hot pot to boil and offer a refreshing change of taste.
This area seems almost forgotten; desserts are completely abandoned. There's hardly anyone around!
Since they use Starbucks beans for coffee, we definitely have to grab a cup!
There's Häagen-Dazs too! Some of my companions dove right in at the beginning. And then they indulged again after the meal, treating it as dessert!
The variety of soup bases is quite extensive, so even if you're not a fan of spicy, there's always a non-spicy option available. Their spiciness is mild and not overly intense, so you won't feel uncomfortable after eating, and there are usually no major repercussions the next day. The quality and quantity of their meats are commendable, and they don't skimp on portion sizes. The speed of service is also impressive. As for the seafood, it's fresh, and there's a decent variety. Overall, it caters well to different preferences; whether you prefer meat or seafood, there's something for everyone. Of course, there's no need to specifically make a trip to Jiaoxi, Yilan just for this.
