The season for metasequoia trees is from November to February each year. Among them, the best viewing months for metasequoia trees, when they start changing color, are typically from mid-December to late January, with slight variations due to local climate conditions.
Metasequoia trees are native to North America and are deciduous trees. In Taiwan, metasequoia trees are often planted near water bodies or in parks for ornamental purposes. In autumn, the leaves of metasequoia trees turn from green to yellow, then to reddish-brown before falling off. The leaves of metasequoia trees are feather-shaped and fall lightly like feathers, hence the name "metasequoia."
There is also a grove of metasequoia trees in Luodong Sports Park. However, the timing and weather conditions were not quite right when I visited, so they didn't look as beautiful as expected. Perhaps I just don't have much luck with metasequoia trees – every time I try to see them, I miss the chance, haha!
Most of the tennis courts in parks in Taipei are hard courts, but Luodong Sports Park has clay courts, which is pretty cool. It was the first time I saw clay courts in Taiwan. I'm not sure if there are any other parks in other counties or cities with clay courts; maybe there are, but I just don't know about them. After all, I don't play tennis. The environment at Luodong Sports Park seems nice, especially with plenty of tennis courts available for use.
