Starbucks Container House is one of the must-visit spots in Hualien for taking photos. For a period of time, check-in photos could be seen on major social media platforms. It is one of the few unique Starbucks stores in Taiwan, which is hard to resist for Starbucks enthusiasts. It seems that some people must have visited and checked in at all the distinctive Starbucks stores across Taiwan.

The fact that a store is built using shipping containers is enough to generate buzz and popularity. Not only does it require creativity, but it also needs a large enough space to accommodate the structure. Additionally, due to building regulations, this kind of unique feature cannot be found in urban areas. Even in Hualien, it is located in a relatively remote location. Although there is a department store near the Hualien Bay store, the surrounding area is not particularly lively.



The drive-thru lane is spacious enough that it doesn't require any particular driving skills to navigate. It's not a challenge that tests your vehicle maneuvering abilities. In contrast, if you look at the drive-thrus in the city center, those require real technique; if you're not careful, you might easily scratch your car.


At first glance, these container houses look like they're made from Lego blocks, giving a sense of playing a stacking game where you need to maintain balance to prevent them from toppling over. To be honest, seeing them arranged like this creates an illusion that they might collapse. They must have used several containers joined together to achieve the required length.



The seating arrangement inside is quite interesting, exemplifying an excellent use of space. Some seats are tucked away in corners, but the most popular ones are by the glass windows. However, the air conditioning might not reach certain spots, making them a bit stuffy. When the sun is strong, the glass-adjacent areas can also get very hot. Drinking coffee here is just a secondary activity; almost everyone takes photos. You can even see some people leaving right after taking pictures.
