An Unforgettable Boeing Factory Tour | Experience the Scale of Aircraft Manufacturing

A personal recommendation for a must-see tour in Seattle—be sure to set aside time for this tour as it’s definitely worth visiting. This tour is the Seattle Boeing Factory Tour. I’m so glad I went back then because I would have regretted missing it. When I originally planned my trip to Seattle, I wasn’t aware of this tour or even considered it a sightseeing spot. Seattle also has another attraction called The Museum of Flight. It's easy to confuse the two if you're not certain. Initially, I thought Boeing Future of Flight and The Museum of Flight were the same, but after carefully reviewing the website information, I realized they are different experiences. Of course, if you have enough time and are very interested in airplanes and aviation, you can also visit The Museum of Flight.

Actually, it was my dad who told me to visit the Boeing Factory in Seattle because he had visited before and thought it was great and well worth a visit. Surprisingly, my teachers who lived in Seattle for many years had never been there and only found out about the tour through me.

I signed up for the tour online, which included transportation (so I tipped the driver on the return trip). They will pick you up and drop you off at the same location, which is quite convenient. At the time, I was staying at my teacher’s house, so I chose the nearest hotel as the pickup point. This activity is quite popular, with a lot of visitors, and I think they do limit the number of people per tour.

Basically, photography and filming are not allowed inside the Boeing Factory. Cameras and phones must be stored in lockers because everything inside is a commercial secret. Just because we don’t understand what we see doesn’t mean others won’t, and it might even reveal secrets. Also, the entire 1.5-hour tour has no bathroom breaks, so it’s best to take care of that beforehand. The guide will lead everyone through the tour seamlessly. The space inside is incredibly large, making it impossible to let visitors roam freely. I remember seeing some of Boeing’s most popular models being assembled. Watching an airplane being assembled right in front of you is pretty cool. Plus, employees working in this factory likely don’t have a chance to gain weight, as just walking around burns a lot of calories!
