Experience the US and Canada on a budget-friendly bus trip from Seattle to Vancouver

In 2012, I took a three-day, two-night trip from Seattle to Vancouver, traveling by BOLTBus. Unfortunately, the service was discontinued in 2021. BOLTBus was a low-cost brand under Greyhound, and its prices were usually quite favorable. If you were lucky, you could even get a ticket for as low as $1. At that time, I almost managed to snag one, but even then, the ticket I bought was less than $20, around $15 or so, which was still a great deal. However, the locations where the bus would pick up and drop off passengers were in areas where you needed to be more cautious about safety. The stop was located in Chinatown, which was relatively dangerous at night. I remember when I returned to Seattle from Vancouver on a late-night bus, my teacher's husband came to pick me up in Chinatown. It was the kind of situation where you get off the bus and immediately get into the car to leave. They rarely linger in Chinatown, nor do they visit often. They seriously informed me that I must tell them my return schedule so they could pick me up!

The drive from Seattle to Vancouver takes only about three hours, including the time needed to cross the border. That's why many people prefer to drive between the two cities. Sometimes, my teacher would drive the whole family to Vancouver for a few days before returning or continue north to Banff! For a solo traveler, taking the bus is a very convenient option. It was part of my initial plan when I first went to Seattle—to spend a few days in Vancouver and then return.

After BOLTBus ceased operations, the available bus companies now are Quick Shuttle, FlixBus, and Greyhound.(Amtrak) You can choose a suitable time and price, or driving is also a great option.
