June Burger’s most impressive quality is undoubtedly its courage, which is truly admirable. From what I remember, the shop opened during the COVID-19 pandemic—a decision that most people wouldn’t dare to make without a tremendous amount of resolve. At that time, many were extremely worried about dining in, so I kept putting off visiting until several years later. On one hand, I rarely ate breakfast out; if I did, I would just prepare something simple at home, leaving little need to dine out.
So, once the whole family was finally gathered, we decided to go for brunch—not because someone overslept that morning. The space inside isn’t very large, with limited seating, and the kitchen is open; there is no table service as most of the food is self-served. The pet-friendly atmosphere is nice, but since we don’t have a pet, it didn’t make much difference for us. However, watching other people's adorable pets did cheer us up—this place might be more suitable for those who are fond of animals.
Let me start with the first issue I encountered—which might have been just a matter of personal luck or perhaps the staff were having a bad day. That day, the staff’s attitude was rather off-putting; they spoke in a hurried and impatient tone, and seemed more interested in chatting among themselves in the open kitchen. When I looked at the prices, I couldn’t help but wonder: was it worth it?
When asking the staff for cutlery and other things, the responses were indifferent and curt. They appeared busy yet their movements were slow. The sandwich we ordered was served last, and it was both small and scanty—so much so that even my mom remarked that it wasn’t enough. She also wasn’t interested in ordering additional items.
The prices are available online if you want to look them up—they reflect the overall experience. The food tastes ordinary, with no particular highlights, and the portion sizes are limited, coming off as a bit stingy. It’s not enough to fill you up, so don’t compare it to a typical American brunch, where portions can make you feel uncomfortably full. This place might leave you wondering if you need to have something more afterwards—but it’s certainly not the spot to satisfy your hunger completely. In short, it might not be the perfect brunch for us, but it could work well for someone else!
