Believe it or not, this isn't the main entrance to Vu Sed Cafe—it's actually the side door, though the main entrance itself looks a bit like a side door! The cafe is tucked inside the Miaoli Youth Entrepreneurship Command Center right next to the Miaoli County Government. So, if you feel a bit lost, don't worry, you're in the right place; the location is just a bit unique. Honestly, I think it’s a great concept—it supports local youth entrepreneurship and breathes new life into the space. There's another cafe right next door, but they have a different vibe. That one focuses purely on coffee, while Vu Sed Cafe serves full meals.
In the Hakka language, "Vu Sed" means the color black. To be honest, I didn't know this at first either—my family had to point it out to me. After all, I’m a bit of a "fake Hakka" myself; I can't speak the language anymore, and sometimes I can barely even understand it! Once you step inside, you'll notice the entire interior design leans heavily into dark, moody tones. Oh, by the way, you’ll definitely want to make a reservation, otherwise you might not get a table. The indoor space is quite cozy and limited.

As for this dish, it tastes just like typical frozen food that’s been reheated—pretty average.
For the pasta, they offer a few different sauces to choose from. The noodles themselves are colored with squid ink to match the black theme. The sauces are incredibly rich and flavorful, which makes the first few bites delicious, though it can get a bit heavy if you eat too much of it. Portion-wise, no need to worry—it’s not overwhelmingly large, but it’s more than enough for one person. The fried chicken was actually really good! It has a nice subtle kick of spice that makes you instantly crave a cold beer.
The waffles were a bit average in my opinion, and a little too sweet for my taste. The coffee was decent. Overall, being able to experience such a unique, concept-driven dining experience right here in Miaoli was a pretty great treat!
