Ottawa's Parliament Hill is an iconic building and the main seat of government. It is one of the must-visit attractions, and it doesn't matter if you don't go to the others. If you come to Ottawa, you must come to Parliament Hill, otherwise you have never been to Ottawa. The Gothic Revival style and construction history of the building alone make this place attract a large number of tourists every year. In particular, the highest Peace Pagoda in the middle is even more popular. There are views of the city from above. It also has its meaning!
Parliament Hill and the Peace Tower are free to visit, and there are free Tours available for registration. Available in English and French. But I don't get it, haha. You can go online to apply for registration, or go to the Capital Information Kiosk Visitor Service Center opposite Parliament Hill for consultation. The Peace Pagoda has control of the flow of people, and you must take a number plate in advance to climb the tower at the designated time. This is also a must-see itinerary! Basically, no one wants to go to the tower. It is better to go early!
When I went in 2012, the West Block was under reconstruction and could not be visited, only the central building could be visited. It seems that the central building has been renovated since 2019, and it will take a long time. During this time, there is no way to visit the Central Building and the Peace Tower, only the two buildings next to it. If it is this time to visit, it seems a bit of a pity. After all, the central building and the Peace Tower are very attractive.
In fact, it was a bit unimaginable at first that government workers were working here. It is open to visitors directly. It's a wonderful thing. But it actually has a lot of historical relics and contains the fusion of the past and the present. The government workers who work here should be very proud!
