A seaside park along the northeast corner of Toucheng, Yilan. The geological features of the reefs here have been formed by scouring and erosion for an unknown number of years. Guishan Island can be clearly seen in the distance. This is a good spot to enjoy the panoramic view of Guishan Island. Tickets are free and only parking fees are required. There are hardly too many tourists on weekdays, and you can take a relaxing stroll in this seaside park.
It is recommended that it is more convenient to travel by car. Although there is a train station nearby, it doesn't take long to get there. It's just a little unsafe, the speed of the whole road is not slow. There is also no dedicated walkway, and you have to walk along the main road.
A park where you won't get lost without looking at a map, just follow the trails. If you go around, you will return to the original path.
Beiguan was originally a checkpoint in the Manchu and Qing Dynasties. At that time, in view of the terrain of this place, it was the best pass to prevent bandits from entering Yilan, and a checkpoint was set up for garrisoning troops. There were two century-old cannons in the park, which were said to be cast during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. The ancient relics, facing the sea and standing with vicissitudes and mottled, also add an ancient style to Beiguan.
The ancient cannons were originally placed here, but they are no longer displayed. I'm not sure what the reason is, is it to protect cultural relics or something. However, it is indeed easy to be damaged by the wind and rain here. Will not even the fort be eroded in the future?
Walking up to the top of the trail, you can see the train passing by, with the sea view.
Be sure to take the coastal walk. You will feel the spectacular view, the huge rocky waves crashing against the shore. It takes about 30 to 60 minutes to walk all the way. Some trails have large undulating terrain, so pay attention to your steps.
