The hot pot brand "Kurogeya," under the KANPAI Group, reflects a pricing style reminiscent of KANPAI. Essentially, its price range aligns with all-you-can-eat options at other hot pot brands. However, there's no right or wrong here. It all boils down to consumer choice. Whether it's about the worth of the price, the quality of ingredients, or the service, it relies heavily on personal preferences and the market.
Choosing it that day was primarily because most nearby restaurants were nearing their lunchtime rush, and I wanted to avoid the hassle of navigating floors or switching between different malls.
Moreover, knowing it belongs to the Cheers Group implies a certain level of service and quality. The rest, however, depended on the actual experience. Of course, some interesting occurrences took place, like the candid and spot-on conversation between two elderly individuals at the adjacent table, reflecting their true feelings about the place.
The table was adorned with a wide array of tableware. Once the dishes arrived, the entire tabletop was almost overflowing, leaving no extra space. It felt quite cramped, and one had to be careful not to accidentally bump into friends sitting nearby or the various utensils scattered across the table. It didn't create a very relaxing atmosphere!
The cookware and soup bases were quite distinctive!
In the set menu, there are pre-designed combinations of soup bases and meat selections. Sometimes, the desired soup base might not pair with the preferred meat choice, leading to a slight disappointment when opting for an alternative. The initial choices often represent what one truly desires to have. Each set includes options like white rice/multi-grain rice/tofu/ramen, assorted vegetable platters, handmade meatballs, and special sauces. Additionally, there's the choice to select the meat portion or upgrade the vegetable platter.
This soup base is quite intriguing, especially with the option to add wasabi, which reduces the greasiness without feeling out of place.
There were three dipping sauces, I forgot what they were, but there was a spicy one and a non-spicy one. Haha! Honestly, some of the soup bases had such great flavor; they didn't really need any additional dipping sauces.
The variety in the vegetable platter was slightly more abundant compared to other hot pot options.
The meat looked decent in quality and tasted fairly good as well.
It was a bit awkward compared to the wagyu; those eating it didn't feel any significant difference. We just chuckled and let it slide, as one person didn't find it worth it. The staff were attentive, refilling water and clearing plates promptly to manage the limited table space, but there was a slight sense of urgency in clearing the plates. As for the elderly couple next to us, they ordered a set meal each, and surprisingly, they finished eating quicker than us. After finishing their meal, they glanced at the menu again and quipped, "It's so expensive, yet still not filling enough. They don't even offer free rice refills." Heh, everyone has their preferences.
