CPC Guan yuan Gas Station! The highest gas station in Taiwan at an altitude of 2,374 meters, it is also the legendary specialty store for zongzi. Besides fueling up, you can also change the battery for your Gogoro and replenish your energy here. They only sell coffee and zongzi; the coffee is average and not necessarily worth drinking. However, almost everyone recommends the zongzi. But if you ask me if it’s good, I can only tell you I don’t know. The customers ahead of us bought several at once, and by the time it was our turn, they were all gone. Waiting for the next batch would take several minutes (apparently 40 minutes, as indicated by a timer in front). We couldn’t wait that long, so we gave up on the legendary zongzi.
The worst part was seeing someone in the parking lot eating zongzi—those who were ahead of us in line. They even smirked at us!
There is only one staff member responsible for fueling, selling coffee, and zongzi. So, you need to be a bit patient and understanding towards the staff. Sometimes it can get really busy!
This is also a common stop for people to use the restroom. However, it’s recommended to go directly to the parking lot at Taroko National Park instead. Otherwise, you’ll have to walk down a very steep staircase, which is not very friendly for the elderly or travelers with mobility issues. It can be dangerous, so it's more convenient to park down below.
