Bakehouse Central: The Irresistible Egg Tart Worth the Wait

For those with enough time and energy, I highly recommend lining up for it. The queue may look long and intimidating, but don’t worry—it won’t take as long as it seems (probably?). Plus, if so many people are willing to wait, there’s one thing you don’t have to worry about: the baseline quality is guaranteed. Even if it doesn’t blow your mind, it won’t be bad either. At worst, it might not suit your taste, but that’s a personal preference, not the bakery’s fault. After all, no place can satisfy every customer.

Why am I rambling on like this? Well, I need to fill up enough words for a full article! 😆 Even though I know Bakehouse is famous and has countless check-ins all over social media, the problem is… I just didn’t have the time or patience to wait in line. Since it was the weekend, there was no doubt the crowd would be overwhelming. So, without hesitation, I decided to skip it and explore elsewhere! (Besides, I had just eaten at Lord Stow’s Bakery in Macau the day before. And based on my experience, Hong Kong has plenty of unassuming bakeries that serve unexpectedly delicious egg tarts.)

So, whether Bakehouse lives up to the hype—I’ll leave that for you to find out! These days, I don’t hold onto food-related obsessions as tightly as I used to. If this were the old me, I would have lined up without question, convinced that missing out was unacceptable. But now? If I don’t get to try it, so be it! The world is full of amazing food—what’s meant to be eaten will be eaten, and if I miss out, maybe that’s just fate.
