The Hong Kong Airport Express: The Fastest Way Between the Airport and the City
Unless you're taking a helicopter, the fastest way for most people to travel between Hong Kong International Airport and the city is the Airport Express. The other options are buses and taxis, with the price ranking as follows: Taxi > Airport Express > Bus. There’s also the option of a private car service, but it’s not commonly used by most travelers. Generally, people choose among these three main transportation methods.
Taking the Airport Express from Kowloon Station to the airport takes only 22 minutes and costs HKD 105. You can pay using an Octopus Card, an OR-code, or cash.
Between Kowloon and the airport, the train only stops at Tsing Yi. The experience hasn’t changed much over the years—I can’t even remember the last time I took it! I usually take the bus to the airport when I’m not in a hurry.
