Yangmei Pengpai Douhua: Giant Bowl Packed with Toppings, A Dessert That Feels Like a Full Meal!

Absolutely do not go to Pengpai Douhua right after a full meal to challenge your limits. I recommend either treating it as your main meal or ordering takeout to share at home. For dine‑in, each person must meet the minimum order requirement of one item, and if you can’t finish it and want to pack the leftovers, there’s an extra fee for the containers. Unless you’re 100% sure you can finish it, you’re better off taking it to go.

We were just passing through Yangmei on our way home to visit our elders, and it was hard to imagine where we’d even eat it if we took it out—after all, it’s nearly an hour’s drive from Yangmei to our destination. The moment we saw the portion size after ordering, our first thought was regret: we’d already eaten too much at lunch yet somehow expected to seamlessly tackle this colossal bowl of douhua, grossly overestimating our own “battle strength.

Seating inside is limited and comes with time constraints. Plus, there are a few toppings that come with free refills—so please judge your appetite carefully!

Don’t force yourself just to reveal the “full” stamp at the bottom of the bowl—that goal is a massive trap. Whether you choose silky grass jelly or douhua as your base, every other topping comes in heaped quantities you’d never see in Taipei. For the price, it’s great value and will leave you positively stuffed. The toppings are all well‑prepared, with balanced sweetness, and each retains its proper texture without turning mushy. The overall sweetness suits most palates—it’s never cloying!
