Our second hotel in Suzhou—kind of like the “one night, one hotel” concept. Although we only stayed in Suzhou for three days and two nights, it sounds like we stayed for much longer. The reason for changing hotels was simple: we just felt like it. There wasn’t any special reason. Since we didn’t have too much luggage, moving hotels wasn’t troublesome, and with a car, transportation was not an issue.
If we hadn’t been driving, we definitely wouldn’t have switched hotels. Also, because of license plate restrictions, we avoided hotels in the very center of the city or in busy downtown areas, preferring places a little farther out. The main requirement was that we could drive directly to the hotel. When exploring Suzhou itself, we never drove—we always took taxis or similar transportation. We also confirmed in advance that there was free parking available!
Days Hotel Suzhou is considered a four-star hotel. Prices fluctuate, so if you’re interested, you can check online for current rates. The subway station is within walking distance, though about 500 meters away. Food options are quite convenient—on the 4th floor, there’s an indoor passage that connects directly to the adjacent Fanhua Center, which has plenty of restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. You don’t need to worry about finding food there. I’m not sure if this commercial center is usually lively, but when we went, it wasn’t very crowded.
The room was smaller than the Hampton by Hilton we had stayed at the previous night. At one point, we even felt that maybe we shouldn’t have switched, especially considering the price. The overall condition of the hotel wasn’t as new either—it showed some age and obvious signs of use. In terms of location, it wasn’t far from major attractions, and taking a taxi didn’t take long. Breakfast was average, nothing particularly special. The staff, however, were friendly and enthusiastic.
