Hidden Gem in Xinyi: The Best Traditional Bean Curd Packets at Li Lai Eatery

Li-Lai Eatery’s name is so rare that I had to check a dictionary just to figure out its pronunciation. However, names are secondary—the flavors are what truly count. Their menu is refreshingly minimal, focusing almost entirely on their specialties: Stuffed Tofu Pockets and Fish Ball Soup. This "less is more" approach is perfect for indecisive diners since there are only a few classic pairings to choose from.

Opting for a lighter meal, I ordered the Fish Ball Glass Noodle Soup. The portion size was quite satisfying. While it appears humble, the taste is deeply comforting, featuring a broth that evokes a sense of nostalgia. The addition of celery and white pepper is essential; these simple seasonings are the secret to "elevating" the soup, transforming a basic bowl into something truly memorable.
