As one of the most famous cherry blossom spots in the Greater Taipei area, Tamsui’s Wuji Tianyuan Temple is arguably a household name. You’d think it’s a 'must-visit at least once,' even if it is a bit of a trek. But honestly? Now that cherry blossoms are everywhere, they’ve lost that sense of rarity. Sometimes, unless there’s a perfect coincidence, I just can’t be bothered to make the trip. Plus, it gets incredibly crowded—and being surrounded by massive throngs of people is exactly what I try to avoid.
If it weren't for the fact that my family was so keen on going, I probably would’ve bailed. It’s not exactly a short drive from Taipei; you could practically get to Hsinchu or Yilan in the time it takes to get there.
When the weather is nice, the scenery is undeniably lovely. It’s just a shame it was a bit overcast when we went. If you have some free time, enjoy cherry blossoms, and don’t mind a crowd, it’s worth a look during the season. As for whether it’s truly 'worth it'? Well, I’ll leave that for you to decide once you see it yourself.
