Heritage Meets Specialty Coffee: Exploring the Historic Shiqiangzainei in Tamsui

I never saw the "new" Shiqiangzainei after its renovation, and perhaps I never will. After all, who knows when the next visit might be? The old atmosphere was wonderful enough; I’m content to let it dwell in my memory. There’s no need to know its whole story or be part of its every change—having experienced it once is plenty.

I remember admiring the view from there, surrounded by the warmth of all-wood architecture and the aroma of coffee. I slowed my pace, let my mind wander in silence, or shared a few quiet words with my companion. To have soaked in that moment was enough.

You could eat downstairs before heading up, or come straight for the coffee. There are no rules, no set plans—just follow your heart. Is it worth the trip? Perhaps, or perhaps not; you’ll only know once you’re there. Answers only come through personal presence. No matter how much you read, nothing can replicate the actual feeling. Experience is personal, even selfish. You might love it in the moment and find it ordinary once you leave.

That visit felt truly worth it. But would I go again? That’s a good question...
